Danielle & Tyler were married on Saturday September 10^th, , 2011 at the Westin Downtown Calgary, and their ceremony was also downtown at the First Baptist Church.  Tyler wore a white suit and Danielle wore a beautiful off the shoulder princess gown that suited her and her personality so well.  

The day started off with Danielle’s mother, Maria, walking her down the aisle, both of them looking stunning.

This past summer Reflections put together our first sponsored photo shoot to show brides different and unique ideas they can use for their wedding day, as well as to give recognition to Calgary wedding vendors. The theme and inspiration of the shoot was Victorian style with a splash of color with focus on purple and orange. The sweetheart table is becoming more popular as it is your first dinner as husband and wife, making it a little more intimate.  Our favorite added touch was the tea cup cupcakes.  A great idea for a small wedding or an added décor for a bigger one while having a cake as well. We were so excited and proud that this photo shoot was featured in Glamour and Grace  on Oct 25, 2011.

The first time Diane called me she told me, "My husband and I will be married for 50 years this year and he wants to marry me again." How sweet is that! Normally we are celebrating the beginning of the journey, so it was such a treat to celebrate such a hugely successful journey.

Diane and Doug wanted a fun and elegant event, and so we chose the peacock as our theme as they are monogamous and represent eternal love and immortality. We got know know Doug and Diane and infused their event with some very personal touches. 

Doug and Diane are both big fans of 50's and 60's rock music and the very talented Judy Crowe from Cake Sensations captured that in this spectacular cake.

To further the peacock theme, the brilliant minds at One West Events added peacock feather clings to the back of the the ghost chairs at the family table.

The fabulous Lea from Designing on the Edge created these lovely 6' long peacocks to adorn the family table.

During the vow renewal ceremony, guests held candles to light the couple.  Once the ceremony was over we used the candles to highlight some of their original wedding photos.

Our 'surprises' were expertly executed and the blend of emotional segments & laugh-out-loud fun, fit the parameters we gave you for something uniquely personal, over-the-top and fun!

We brought in jive dancers to entertain the guests while the band took their break.

Diane and Doug used to go on dates to A&W for root beer floats, so we decided to relive those memories with a parade of floats for dessert served by the Root Bear himself!

The Johnny Summers band kept the guests dancing for the remainder of the night!

It is an event that we will not soon forget, nor will Doug, Diane and all their guests!

Minh & Raul were married on September 3, 2011 at the beautiful Knox United Church downtown with a reception after in the Palamino Room in the BMO Centre at Stampede Park.  It was a big wedding with 300+ guests and only a little bit traditional as Minh & Raul didn’t want to follow all the traditions from each of their cultures.

One tradition Minh did keep in line with was having a tea ceremony at her parents’ house.  Pictures below of her in her outfit.

Another thing Minh & Raul wanted to provide for their guests was LOTS of ENTERTAINMENT.  Below are the Romanian Dancers in action that performed at their wedding.

Even the bride sang a few songs for her guests.

This wedding was quite the event and it had a jam packed schedule of events for the evening.  All the performers were very talented and they contributed lots to this unique and memorable event.

It was a picture perfect August day at the Kicking Horse Resort for Genevieve and Adam’s wedding.  Guests took a gondola up to Canada’s highest restaurant, Eagle Eye Restaurant, at 7705 feet.  The amazing view and great weather made this day even better for Genevieve and Adam to celebrate with all their guests. 

After a romantic outdoor ceremony with a champagne toast, all the guests made their way inside the restaurant decorated with alternate tables of pink and green covered in unique floral and beautiful candlelight. 

Dinner was served to guests followed by a good fun party with a dj and dancing. 

At the end of the night guests took the gondola back down with the incredible view of a star lit night sky.

If there was a theme to this wedding it was FUN! Monica and Patrick did not want to do things the traditional way, they wanted their evening to be enjoyed by all. It is a wedding we will never forget!

After dinner the fun continued with a photo booth. Cheryl, Monica (RWD consultant Monica not the bride Monica…yes, we know it's confusing) and myself were dressed up by the bride and bridesmaid. Can you event tell who's who?

And of course Monica got in on the fun!

Who needs a dance when you can play Twister at your wedding!

But of course you need some dancing too!

We loved working with Monica and Patrick because they had such a unique vision for their day that was more about what was fun for them and their guests than what the normal is!

Don't be afraid to add personality to your wedding, even if it means going against "tradition"!
